Separation Processes

Separation Processes
  • Unit ops refers to steps intended primarily to perform some physical transformation (as opposed to chemical transformation) of the input stream
  • A unit operation is any part of potentially multiple-step process which can be considered to have a single function. Examples of unit operations include:
  • *       Separation Processes
  • Purification Processes
  • Mixing Processes
  • Reaction Processes
  • Power Generation Processes
  • Heat Exchangers

  • There are a large number of types of separation processes, including

  • Distillation
  • Extraction
  • Membrane filtration
  • Humidification
  • Gas absorption
  • Sedimentation
  • Adsorption
