A letter of suspension is used to inform somebody that they are being temporarily removed from a position, usually as a disciplinary measure. This could be a suspension from employment, school, or from some other kind of organization.
An employer is usually entitled to suspend an employee at work pending an investigation of gross misconduct or other serious disciplinary matter. The right to suspend by employers will usually be set out in contract of employment or staff handbook, and which will also set out a non –exhaustive list of when the decision will be exercised.
Types of suspension vary from case to case, but may involve clauses such as “without pay”, or “pending an investigation”.
