Access To Care And Support Services For People Living With Hiv/Aids In Enugu State

ABSTRACT

This study set out to determine the level of access to care and support services for the people

living with HIV/AIDS in Enugu state and the challenges they face in getting them. The study

was carried out in Enugu state using 587 respondents. Questionnaire and the in-depth interview

were used to collect data for the study. The data were analyzed using percentages (%) and

statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). The study adopted five testable hypotheses.

Finance, distance to access and care centres and lack of ready availability of therapy are the

major challenges faced by PLWHA in Enugu state. It is recommended that more involvement

and greater demonstration of sense of commitment on the part of the government and other

stakeholders will help in improving the lives of PLWHA.
