This research looks to examine the impact of the internal displaced persons in the northeast. This research is motivated by the attention that has been given to the internally displaced persons by international community and the resources flowing into the region to address the plight of the IDPs. The research used Displaced Aggression as theoretical framework. The theory explains how groups and individuals attack soft targets due to the unavailability of the provocateur. The IDPs were vulnerable to the insurgence while Nigerian economy and IDP’s host community are heavily affected. The research uses qualitative method, data were collected from secondary sources which include journals, newspaper publication, books etc. This work seeks to uncover the plight, challenges and management of the internally displaced persons and the economic implications to the activities of the IDP. The IDP’s plight and improper management of the situations by the government constitute human insecurity in the northeast. It was noted that government has a lot to do to savage the situation.
