Disorientation And The Female Experience In Selected Novels By African And African American Women Writers

ABSTRACT

Interdisciplinary approaches to criticism contribute much to the understanding of library tests. The principle of psychoanalysis, for instance, can reveal that many opinions often expressed about African and African American literary works can be interrogated. Within the context of psychoanalytic principles, it can be argued that biology and culture work together to shape the lives of individuals, and works of literature which portray human actions should highlight the influences of unconscious factors on characters behavior.

This study has investigated the unconscious determinants of disorientative behavior in female protagonists of selected novel written by Bessie Head, Ama Ata Aidoo, Toni Morrison and Gloria Naylor.
