ABSTRACT
This study has investigated the Influence of Educational Management Practices on Teachers Turnover in Selected Community Secondary Schools in Kyela District. The study was guided by Human Relations Theory. The study employed both quantitative and qualitative methods. Using simple random and purposive sampling a total sample of 77 respondents took part in the study. Data were obtained through unstructured interview and structured questionnaire. Qualitative data from interviews were subjected to thematic analysis where common themes were identified. Quantitative data from questionnaire were subjected to descriptive analysis through frequencies and percentages given in tables.
The findings show that, managers practices of keeping teachers claims without paying, late promotions, low remunerations, and ambiguous procedures in sponsoring teachers scholarship, influenced teachers to abandon teaching, hence teacher turnover. Again, scarcity of teachers, staffing problems to schools, insufficient education to students, and increased workload to teachers are impacts of teachers‟ turnover. Lastly, creating clear grounds for teachers‟ motivation, putting teaching profession into consideration, and providing adequate remuneration to teachers are among the strategies for retaining teachers in teaching profession.
Generally, the study recommends that, education management, school administration, and community members have to play part in harmonizing conducive working environment in order to retain teachers. This will help in rescuing teaching profession from being at risk. Also some recommendations for future studies have been made so as to build knowledge on the current study.
