1.1 ABSTRACT.
High blood pressure is on rise globally affecting more women than men in many developing countries. It is the leading cause of mortality worldwide and hospitalization in Nigeria-Africa. Kearney. P.M. (2012).
According to Aronow and Rysz (2011),the knowledge of the predisposing risk factor is vital in the modification of lifestyle behavior conducive and stress promotion to an optimal cardiovascular health abnormalities. Measuring and appropriately dissemination of the knowledge of the modifiable risk factors at an early age is an essential preventive educational approach. Strategies to achieve even a modest lowering of the level of blood pressure in the population of adults traders as specific target are therefore important public health goals.
The researchers has gone as far and discovered that Benue State as a whole has recorded much number of death as a result of hypertension with much more number of hypertensive patients. Report submitted by Josh and Okpe. (2012)
However, it is well known that the control of hypertension is inadequate in Nigeria and in many other countries. (Amaa. 2011). The main reasons for this inadequate  blood pressure control include demographic characteristics, health believe and the presence of other chronic diseases, other reasons include lack of knowledge through educational intervention on treatment. Which can positively influence patients believe about medicine (Magadza,2009). (PUBLIC HEALTH SCIENCE)
