PREFACE 
Marketing is everything you do to place your product or service in the hands of potential customers.  It includes diverse disciplines like sales, public relations, pricing, packaging, and distribution.  Anything short of these defeats the purpose of insurance contract and makes it a difficult product to sell.  This term paper dealt with  the challenges and prospect of marketing insurance services in Nigeria. In which conclusion was that insurance is essential for Nigeria to meet up foreign competitor in dealing with people in the public place and better for future risks.

DEFINITION OF MARKETING
Marketing is everything you do to place your product or service in the hands of potential customers.  It includes diverse disciplines like sales, public relations, pricing, packaging, and distribution.  In order to distinguish marketing from other related professional services, S.H. Simmons, author and humorist, relates this anecdote.  The activities of a company associated with buying and selling a product or service. It includes advertising, selling and delivering products to people. People who work in marketing departments of companies try to get the attention of target audiences by using slogans, packaging design, celebrity endorsements and general media exposure. The four 'Ps' of marketing are product, place, price and promotion. Marketing is an activity. Marketing activities and strategies result in making products available that satisfy customers while making profits for the companies that offer those products. 

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE INCLUDED IN MARKETING?
Marketing activities are numerous and varied because they include everything needed to get a product off the drawing board and into the hands of the customer. The broad field of marketing includes activities such as: 
-Designing the product so it will be desirable to customers by using tools such as marketing research and pricing.
-Promoting the product so people will know about it by using tools such as public relations, advertising, and marketing communications.
-Setting a price and letting potential customers know about your product and making it available to them.
