The impact of Cloud Computing on Business Process Management (BPM) cannot be over-emphasized. The increasing usage of cloud service solutions by organizations has introduced radical changes in the way enterprise applications are managed.
In a traditional BPM; organizations will have to deal with huge amount of investment in hardware and software; as well as the man-power that is required for the installation and maintenance of the systems. In a cloud based system, the service provider offers the use of software on a pay-per-use arrangement. This does not only ease the financial capital outlay, but also offers scalability to the users to make use of additional resources easily during the peak period. There has been a major concern of security of organization sensitive data on the adoption of cloud computing service; since the cloud solution is hosted outside the organization and the data are stored in the cloud.
This paper considers the level of ICT that organizations in developing economy have used to integrate their BPM. It examines the advantages of cloud computing service on the utilization of financial resources, human capital resources, service turnaround-time, data security and ecological business environment of organizations in developing economy. The paper further investigates the challenges and the motivation for the adoption of cloud computing service in BPM.
