ABSTRACT
The study investigated personality and social support as predictors of life satisfaction among a
population of 601 staff of Nigerian Prisons, Enugu State. Data were collected using Life
Satisfaction Index-Short Form (Barrette & Murk, 2009), Big Five Inventory (John, Donahue &
Kentle, 1991) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet &
Farley, 1988). Multiple regression analysis was used to test the significance of the hypotheses.
The result of the study showed that extraversion (β =.28, P< .01), agreeableness (β =.07; P
