Abstract
Language ambiguity is a quality of language that makes a speech or written text open to multiple interpretations. This study aimed to know the challenges of English Students in Language Ambiguity and how they cope with these challenges. At the end of the study, the researchers aimed to address these challenges experienced by the participants. The participants of this study were second (2nd) year college students of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English from Don Honorio Ventura State University, Porac Campus in the academic year 2020-2021. The researchers used a qualitative approach to examine the individual life experiences of English Students in Language Ambiguity. In this study, the researchers used semi-structured interviews to gather the data needed. It showed that the challenges of the students in language ambiguity were due to multiplicity of meaning, language ambiguities in a school setting, social gatherings, and poor vocabulary. While the coping strategies of the students are researching for better understanding, providing extra attention to words, and simplifying complex words. The inputs offered in addressing language ambiguity are conducting research about Language Ambiguity, asking experts' assistance, teaching strategies to address language ambiguity in school, and simplifying complex words.
