Exploring Medical Polymeric Nanoarchitectures for Safety in COVID-Era

COVID-19 outbreak has rapidly disseminated across the globe, with severe consequences on humanity. Personal protective polymeric materials (PPPM) or personal protective equipments (PPE) are effective barrier protection against bodily fluid penetration and is compulsory for medical personnel to wear during medication of highly contagious COVID-19 patients in varying hospital wards across the globe to ensure protection against contraction. Nanotechnology (NT) advancements in textiles have availedengineered mitigation, reduced contraction, retention, and transmission through minimization of microbial retention andbio-burden. Therefore, this paper elucidates feasibility of PPPM in militating against pathogenic contraction and transmission especially in this era of COVID-19 pandemic with special elucidation on the dynamism and mechanism of polymeric medical face masks (MFMs) in ensuring protection against spreading and contraction of air borne COVID-19. Nanotechnological mitigations and panacea to curtailing transmission risks are also expounded.
