ABSTRACT
This study sought to explore the contribution of strategies of community based reintegration on the social economic growth of Ex-combatants was guided by four study objectives; (I) to determine the respondent’s profile in terms of gender, position, age, sector and education in Rwanda; (ii) to determine the extent of the contribution of Community Based Reintegration Projects on social economic growth of ex-combatant in Rwanda; (iii) to determine the level of socio-economic growth of ex-combatants in Rwanda; and (iv) to determine if there is a relationship between strategies of community Based reintegration Projects and socio-economic growth of ex-combatants in Ngoma district, Rwanda. The study employed descriptive correlation research design. Questionnaire was ‘used to collect data from 120 respondents out of a population of 175 staff. Data was analyzed using frequencies and percentages, means and standard deviation and PLCC. Findings revealed that majority of the respondents were male, and in the age brackets of 40 years and above; Ex-combatants and civilian had a percentage distribution of 50% participation just like Zaza and Sale sector participated equally, and lastly, respondents with primary level of education dominated the study. Findings further revealed that the contribution of CBR project was very high; and the level of social economic growth of Ex-combatants was also high. Lastly the study showed that there is positive and significant relationship between the study variables. Basing on the findings the researcher made the following recommendations: District authorities and partners should jointly follow up and be involved in project planning and decision making, Infrastructural development should be given pribrity’. when deciding on which projects to initiate. In order to create a spirit of ownership,. the communities participate in these projects.
