Financial management in organizations has evolved from being a subject area in conomics to a strategic function as seen in most organizations today. The evolutionary rocess of financial management or performance as a discipline has been dictated by evelopment in the business environment through technological revolutions which is a reality ~i Uganda. The financial manager has seen his role changing from that of being a simple fundraiser nd custodian of funds (treasurer) to being strategic executive who has to make sure that the aising and the allocation of funds in the organization is done in the most efficient maimer so as o meet the challenges of business environment resulting from information and communication echnology. (Julius Kakuru, 2003) The modern world looks at science and technology as the most reliable tool to generate imely and quality information. The use of ICT in both private and public sector has become inevitable in all countries and many companies are affected including equity bank. The national Computing Center of United Kingdom, (1986) defined information technology~ the ability for you to communicate and process information by the application of technology.” To operate more effectively and retain a competitive edge, Organizations are left with no alternative but to invest in information technology. This is evidenced with the introduction of computers based on information systems. These points out some considerations to information technology in the financial sectors. Information Technology investments upon the need of the organizations and sophistication of the solution. Given proper planning management, they can prove to be cost effective and successive, According to R 0 Anderson (1990), the new information technology will not affect management elements only but also apply to all levels regardless of the methodology in vogue since in the final analysis it is the function of managers to manage the sources; man power, money, machine activities.
