ABSTRACT
This research work evaluates the Impact of Media on the Buhari Administration Anti-Graft War Against Corruption in Nigeria: A Study of NTA and its seeks to examine the extent to which the media is contribution to the war against corruption in Nigeria, to ascertain the significant impact of Nigerian media in the war against corruption in Nigeria, and to know the extent at which Anti-graft Agencies are effectively combating corruption in Nigeria. The research work was given solid theoretical foundation with the review of the Social Responsibility Theory and Agenda Setting Theory. Survey method was adopted in this study and the entire viewers of NTA, Abeokuta, who are residents of Obafemi Owode Local Government area, Ogun State, Abeokuta represent the focus of this study and this was achieved with simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques was used to draw sample for this study. Out of the 400 questionnaires distributed and administered to respondents, 380 of them were carefully, correctly filled and returned at the stipulated time and findings of the study reveal that NTA coverage of the Buhari administration anti-graft war against corruption is to a very large extent and the ideal role NTA play in the anti-graft war against corruption is agenda setting role and sensitization role. The study further revealed that it was revealed that though media performance is germane to democracy, yet the rate to which NTA contribute to curbing corruption in Nigeria is unsatisfactory, which implies that media performance or responsibility has a relationship with the level of corruption. The study however, concludes that if people stop paying or demanding bribes, if they consider corruption immoral, if they report corruption when they see it, and if they support the work of organizations fighting against corruption, then change will truly have arrived. It recommends that the media should work in collaboration with anti-corruption agencies and none-governmental organizations if they will effectively fight the war against corruption.
