An Online Reservation Information Management System For A Tours And Travel Company Case Study: Star Ways Tours And Travel Agency

Abstract

Star Ways Tours and Travel Agency is a large international (East Africa) travel agency that has its headquarters in Nairobi city on Accra road with a branch in Kampala city on Buganda road near the Central Police Station and opposite the Constitutional Square. It deals with the transportation of people and goods to and from in the different parts of its operations. The agency was initiated in the year 2000 and it has been greatly developing due to the steady increase in the number of customers due to the good services that are provided to them. It has an enormous number of clients or customers that it handle in the day to day activities at the sated times of the day that is in the afternoon, evening and night where a number of buses with 49 passengers are set to travel every day. The agency is structurally organized in form of departments with somewhat a large number of staff approximately to 50 members that offer different services in the organization namely the; parcel department that deals with transportation, delivery and safety of the parcels, booking department which is responsible for the booking department which is responsible for the ticketing facilities, accounts department that manages the funds mechanics department that deals with vehicle status and operations, and the administration that has the general manager where all managers from different departments report. The agency is currently using manual ledger systems that are widely used to manage the agency records at all levels including the ticketing, reservation and also facilities like receipts and coupons.
