ANALYZATION OF THE IMPACT OF USER EDUCATION ON E- RESOURCES UTILISATION IN AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, ZARIA.

This study was limited to the impact of user education on electronic resource utilisation in the Ahmadu Bello university Zaria libraries. The study was guided by the specific objectives; to establish the nature of user education, to establish the relationship between user education and electronic resource utilization, to establish the challenges encountered in user education for e-resource utilization and to establish solutions to the identified challenges in Ahmadu Bello university libraries. The study was descriptive in nature. The study population study consisted of all the library staff and library users. The researcher used questionnaires and interview schedules to collect data from respondents. The study concluded that majority of the respondents showed that library user orientation is the most used category of library user education and the respondents noted that to realize maximum utilization of the existing electronic resources in the library, there must be thorough user awareness and training of library users and this facilitates electronic resource utilization. The researcher recommended that more electronic resources should be provided by the university libraries and also made accessible to the users. The researcher further recommended that the university library management should create awareness about the electronic resources available in the library and its relevance to the library users.
