Appraisal of the Deployment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Traffic Management in Port Harcourt Metropolis

Traffic demand is growing steadily in the world today, the authorities are with daily challenges, such as the road and time spent travelling, there should certainty added global concern about the protection of the environment different kinds of contaminations including noise and vibration caused by todays level motorization. The aim of this study is to appraise the deployment of ICT in the management and control of traffic in the Port Harcourt metropolis. This study used empirical evidence for the collection of data on the evaluation of the deployment of ICT transportation system in Port Harcourt metropolis with focus on the two major routes (Aba road and Ikwerre road) in Port Harcourt city The increasing demand for mobility is seriously stretching the capability of out transport facilities to provide safety and security of the road users, enhanced traffic flow, reduce pollution and increased energy, the use of corporate social responsivities should be encouraged to provide constant power for the management and control of traffic in Port Harcourt metropolis. Also agency should be carved out whose responsibilities is to maintain these facilities. These infrastructures should be adequately taken care of to enhance the performance level. This will also help to check the problem of Vandalization and obliteration of these infrastructures.
