The theoretical framework of the study is behaviorists who assume that learning constitute an observable change of behavior after learning. They assume that learners or trainee must demonstrate what has been learned or trained. The study used a qualitative methodology and data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentary review. It examined the qualities of the head of secondary schools available in effective supervision and management of their school. It also examined the challenges they face in implementing their roles. The main findings of the study were that schools with effective leaders/head of schools are excelling than those without effective leaders. The collected data were qualitatively analyzed. Findings revealed that those heads of schools who attended the training had implemented what was trained. The study has revealed that leadership training is important in providing skills to heads of schools and recommends that training should be regularly provided to heads of schools to update their skills. It also recommends that there is a need to develop a system of making follow up after any training program.
