ASSESSMENT OF THE INFLUENCE OF CONFLICT RESOLUTION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF AN ORGANIZATION: A CASE STUDY OF EDO STATE CIVIL SERVICE

This research work highlights the result of a research carried out to assessment of the influence of conflict resolution on the performance of an organization: a case study of Edo State civil service.A substantial aspect of the study involved collecting data through the instrumentation of questionnaires. The data collected were classified, analyzed and the percentages of the findings presented in a table. The hypothesis was then statistically tested with chi-square in which the calculated value of chi-square equals 119.2 and is greater than the critical value of 5.991. This result showed that negotiation influenced organizational performance and third party intervention influences organization performance in Edo State civil service hence, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternate hypothesis accepted. Based on the findings, the study recommends that management should be sensitive to conflicts and set up effective communication channels to facilitate an improvement in conflict management or Edo State civil service management should encourage the use of third party intervention as a form of conflict management strategy.
