Challenges Facing Financing Of Small–Scale Entrepreneurs In Kigoma-Ujiji Municipality: A Case Of Palm Oil And Soap Making Producers

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the challenges facing financing of small-scale entrepreneurs in Kigoma-Ujiji Municipality, based on a case of oil palm and soap making producer. To achieve the desired results, the study used various techniques for data collection, like questionnaires, interviews, field observations and sampling techniques. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for data analysis. The study involved two categories of respondent namely small-scale entrepreneurs who were dealing with the production of palm oil production, and soap making producers. The study findings have revealed that the financing of small-scale entrepreneurs who were producing palm oil and soap were still facing problems of paying back the loans accessed. Reasons were high interest rates, the use of loans to other activities such building houses, buying furniture and paying school fees to their children. In order to respond positively to the situation, the study recommends that regular training required for entrepreneurs be provided in order to capacitate and equip them with the knowledge of administering the loans accessed. Furthermore, the study recommends on reviewing the terms and conditions of financial sources for entrepreneurs to attain loans and produce more.
