Compatibility Of Urban Fabric With The Urban Environment (Case Study: Shuhadaa Area - Omdurman)

Abstract

This research deals with the urban fabric of the historic areas, the impact of the urban environment on this existing fabric, which carries the spirit of heritage and history through ancients. The research also deals with the urban, environmental and social problems of historical areas and the impact of these problems and failures on the urban fabric of the region.

The main objective of the research; was to study the origin of the urban fabric that had existed since ancient times in historical heritage areas and the moral importance of historical buildings, which reflect the identity of the communities and indicate their originality and deep roots. It also distinguishes the urban fabric from other societies. This is what we need today in the era of globalization after the development that took place. On the architectural and architectural environment to reach a partial and semi-complete agreement with the surrounding environment.

In order to achieve this, a number of local models were selected for this research and analysis. All theoretical information was used and analyzed analytically to study all of its items through methodology of analytically descriptive approach, and conducted accurate and repeated field studies. The researcher also conducted interviews with the relevant residents and users of the study area. On information that helps in how the urban fabric conforms to the urban environment despite the problems and challenges surrounding it. The results, recommendations and conclusions have been issued to help in conducting other studies of this kind.

The most important findings of this research; were the incompatibility of the urban fabric of the historic heritage with the surrounding urban environment, due to the neglect of the social and culture aspects of the population; the emergence of a modern urban environment had based on modern building materials, high elevations which were incompatible with the ancient urban fabric and they change the image of the cities and urban area that work of visual and environmental pollution.

The most important recommendations of this research were to take care of the existing urban fabric; to rehabilitate and renovate them by using one of the urban renewal programs instead of preserves the historic buildings that are present in the past and the future, in order to benefit them functionally, socially and aesthetically.
