ABSTRACT
Adolescent pregnancy among the youth is alarming and has become more or less a fact of life in different parts of the country most especially the central part of Ghana. The purpose of this study was to investigate the dietary practices of pregnant adolescents in the Effutu Municipality, Winneba, Ghana. A survey research design was employed in this study. The target population being all pregnant adolescents in the Effutu Municipality. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 11 health centres in the Effutu Municipality, Winneba and 101 respondents from the various hospitals. To gather data, questionnaire instrument was used for data collection. Results revealed a fair consumption of daily meals and a significant correlation (r = .199; n = 101; p < 0.05) between level of nutritional knowledge and dietary practices of pregnant adolescents. A multivariate analysis revealed that nutritional knowledge has a significant effect only on the mother’s Body Mass Index (.024), p < .05, dietary practices have a significant effect on the Child Birth Weight and the mother’s Body Mass Index = .034 and .028, p
