DRUG ABUSE AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS: SIGNIFICANCE OF COUNSELLING


ABSTRACT

This study is on drug abuse and its significant of counseling, it was carried out in selected students of government science
school in Obi Local Government of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. 60 participants were randomly chosen for the study, 30 were males and 30 were females. Questionnaire was used for data collection and the literature review revealed some causes of drug addiction by the students which included parental influence, school related factors, societal, peer-group effects and government factors. The first
result showed that there is not differences between female who attend counseling than males who do not attend counseling clinic, chi-square, (786), 21.4p>0.05 insignificant, also second result showed that there is difference in the performance of male and females drug abusers, t-test, t(-34) =73,p
