EFFECT OF FREQUENT TESTING ON STUDENTS’PERFORMANCE IN SOME SELECTED PHYSICS CONCEPTS

ABSTRACT

This study was designed to determine the effect of frequent testing on students’ performance in some selected physics concepts at Accra Girls’ Senior High School. The purpose of this research study was used to determine the effect of frequent testing on the performance of students in some selected physics concepts as well as perception of students about frequent testing. The research design used was an action research. The participants were form two science students of Accra Girls’ Senior High School with a total sample of 50 students. Students’ were tested for a period of six weeks and the marks obtained were analysed for each week of the six weeks. The mean score for each student for the six-week period was also obtained and the overall mean score for the entire students was then determined to give an idea of students’ general performance after testing of concepts. Again, to test for students’ performance after teaching of concepts, students were tested again to determine the extent to which learning has taken place and their level of understanding.
