Effect of Performance Management Practices on Organisational Performance

ABSTRACT  

This study ascertains impact of performance management system on organizational performance. Survey research design was employed and questionnaire was used as the research instrument. Moreover, simple random sampling technique was used as sampling technique and one hundred and forty five (145) respondents was administered questionnaire among staff of Lacasera Company limited in Lagos state while they were fully completed and returned. Simple percentage was employed to analyze the responses of the questionnaire while Pearson Moment Correlation was used to test the hypotheses formulated. However, it was found that there is significant effect of education on organizational performance, there is significant relationship between job/work experiences on organizational performance and also that there is significant relationship between training and development and organizational performance. It is therefore recommended that the performance management method should go hand in hand to the various strategic goals of the company as such individual roles and responsibilities also needs to be addressed in the appraisal method and the whole process of performance appraisal system should focus on the ultimate outcome or output or result.
