Inter cluster group management in wireless sensor networks

Abstract: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs), an emerging large-scale network system can be embedded for any application. The designers of wireless sensor network have to consider the quality of service agreements from a user perspective. The WSN is very rapid in dynamic changing topology and has less energy, computing and communication resources. The network design has to fulfill the QoS parameters like reliability, timeliness and lifetime of the network. In wireless sensor network, when two no...

A User-Intelligent Adaptive Learning Model for Learning Management System Using Data Mining And Artificial Intelligence

Abstract: Entire world is revolving towards digital space as a result of the Internet and other emerging web technologies are helping the society to reach the universe. ICT and e-learning are growing radically fast and have captured a major role in higher educational systems. To develop the coast-to-coast purposes, institutions are changing the teaching style from chalk and talk to Learning Management System (LMS), called e-learning systems. Impact of e-learning introduces various delivery m...

Application of Smart Waste Management System : Case Study for Queen II Hospital, Maseru Lesotho

Abstract: Many countries desire to have a clean and healthy environment hence the need for effective and efficient Management of trash Bins. But for many years, the traditional way of collection and removal of trash has not proved to be effective. There are number of problems encountered with the usage of the traditional way of collecting trash in hospital and Healthcare Centers. These problems include among others: trash overflow, land and air pollution and unclean and unhealthy enviro...

Wrap-and-plant technology to manage sustainably potato cyst nematodes in East Africa

Abstract: Renewable eco-friendly options for crop protection are fundamental in achieving sustainable agriculture. Here, we demonstrate the use of a biodegradable lignocellulosic banana-paper matrix as a seed wrap for the protection of potato plants against potato cyst nematode (PCN), Globodera rostochiensis. Potato cyst nematodes are devastating quarantine pests of potato globally. In East Africa, G. rostochiensis has recently emerged as a serious threat to potato production. Wrapping seed ...

Parallel construction of Random Forest on GPU

Abstract: There is tremendous growth of data generated from different industries, i.e., health, agriculture, engineering, etc. Consequently, there is demand for more processing power. Compared to computer processing units, general-purpose graphics processing units (GPUs) are rapidly emerging as a promising solution to achieving high performance and energy efficiency in various computing domains. Multiple forms of parallelism and complexity in memory access have posed a challenge in developin...

Modelling and Simulation of the Strength Properties of Ultra-High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete Specimens

The strength performance of UHPFRC with micro and hooked-ends steel fibers was studied in this paper using Finite Element (FE) modelling and simulation. The specimens were modelled in geometry, material, constraints, load and boundary conditions using ABAQUS package and dynamic explicit analysis was used to to investigate the crack pattern, failure mode and stress-stain behaviour of the UHPFRC specimens when subjected to uniaxial compression and tension loading. Results from the FE simulation...

Study of Thermal and Tensile Properties of the Thermoset Polymer

ABSTRACT Current advancement in raw material utilization is gradually changing from the conventional petro-based materials into natural materials in order to arrest environmental pollution issue which arises as a result of the non-biodegradability of products obtained from petro-based resources. Plant oil among other alternatives due to its abundance, relatively low cost, non-toxicity and biodegradable nature have been found to be a potential replacement for petro-based feedstock in many in...

Defect Analysis and Productivity Enhancement of Crankcase Casting through Pareto Analysis, POKAYOKE and QC Tools

Abstract: Productivity is a very important aspect in any organization. Productivity means output obtained with respect to how much input is provided. To increase the productivity of any organization it is necessary to study and analyze the rejection data of that organization. This research focuses on the need of following a proper methodology in solving any particular problem. The defects were prioritized using QC tools, Pareto analysis. This research emphasizes on the importance of focusing ...

Will Fiscal Decentralization Stimulate Energy Demand? Evidence From Kenya

This study set out to estimate empirically the effects of fiscal decentralization on energy demand in Kenyan counties, 2013-2017. The finding of this study has established the critical role of decentralization in positively influencing electricity demand at the sub-national level through improved energy efficiency, rises in energy innovation and involving local actors in energy planning processes. This has been qualified by the ability of decentralization to provide necessary economic and fin...

Resilient microgrids designed for power system

Resilient microgrids are being used more frequently to improve the flexibility, resilience, coordinated energy management capabilities, self-sufficiency, and overall reliability of power systems. Power electronics improvements, enhanced control systems, reducing costs, and broad adoption of distributed energy generating technologies like solar photovoltaics and storage are driving this major industry expansion. Microgrids provide backup power sources during grid failures, ensuring resilience ...

Reliability Analysis of Continuous Beam Using Hasofer-Lind Reliability Method

This project work “Reliability analysis of a continuous beam using Hasofer-Lind Reliability Method” was primarily concerned with the effect of varying parameters such as load, modulus of elasticity, moment of inertia and span length on the reliability of a continuous beam. The limit state considered is deflection, and the allowable deflection is specified as L/360. The maximum deflection is 0.0069wL^4/EI and it occurs at 0.446L from either end (AISC, 1986). Reliability analysis, expre...

Basic Principle of Machining and Arc Welding

ABSTRACT This project tittle ‘’basic principle of machining’’ deal with the operations on lathe, milling and some part of arc welding, turning, taper turning, threading, knurling and chamfering, while on milling machine spur Gears were cut, forming a hexagon shape and square shape were all done on milling machine. A simple component/part which contained all the above mention operation were produced in one work piece. In conclusion we are able to produce spurs gears, square thread, an...

Design and Construction of a 4 Way Inter-Communication System

ABSTRACT An intercom is a stand-alone voice communications system for use within a building or small collection of buildings, functioning independently of the public telephone network. Intercoms are generally mounted permanently in buildings and vehicles. Intercoms can incorporate connections to public address loudspeaker systems, walkie talkies, telephones. Four-way intercommunication system is nothing but the communication within four persons not close to one another. This does not mean w...

Influence of Solar-Exhaust Gas Greenhouse Drying Modes on Viability of Black Nightshade Seeds

In this study, three distinct and unique modes of greenhouse drying are introduced: solar, solar-exhaust gas, and exhaust gas modes of drying. The effect of drying black nightshade seeds in the three modes was studied, using germinability as a measure of quality. In solar mode, seeds were dried from a moisture content of 89.34% (db) to 7.13% (db) with the greenhouse dryer room air temperature range of 14.82-58.46°C and relative humidity of 9.40-88.03%. In solar-exhaust gas mode drying was pe...
