Human Resource Planning And Organisational Productivity In Uganda: A Case Study Of Steel And Tubes Ltd Industries, Namanve, Kampala

The study was aimed at examining the impact of human resource planning on or:;anisational productivity in Steel and tubes industries Uganda limited. It was based on three objectives which included assessing the effect of human resource demand forecasting on the productivity of' organizations, assessing the effect of human resource supply forecasting on organizational productivity and determining the effect human resource audit on organizational productivity. The study adopted an analytical design research design involving both qualitative and quantitative research designs. The study adopted a study population of I 34 with the sample of I 00 people chosen using Slovene' formula. The study findings were that human resource demand forecasting prevails at steel and tubes industries limited. It does affect the productivity of the organisation. The measures realised include help in improving the quality of staff, it also reduces gaps that hinder capacity ltlr operation, reduction of errors in employee selection and attaining the organisational required skills, increased organisational flexibility and selection of appropriate number of employees. The study findings were also that human resource supply forecasting affect productivity of steel and tubes through assessment retention needs and promotion, ascertain the cost of transforming to suit organisational requirement, establishing valuable work forces, evaluation of required competencies, measuring the working flow measures, es1ablishing the market availability and anticipation of available skills for taping. It was established that human resource audit affect the productivity of organisations through reduction of HR wastage. Analysis of quality of I IR. establishing loop holes in perfonnance, establishing the skills available and needed. Evaluating the experience gaps, establishing the knowledge gaps for action. Human resource planning constitutes a bigger part of productivity despite the challenges encountered in the process.
