The study measured ‘need assessment’ and ‘training programs’ and independent variables and employee performance as dependent variables. The study made use of regression technique as tool of analysis where SPSS 20.0 was used to process the data collected from the staff of NHIS, Abuja The researcher found that that training has significant effect on employee performance. The result of the study also revealed that there is no particular training approach that is best or most appropriate for all training needs. Therefore, the training need adopted will depend on a particular skill that the employees are required to acquire.
