Implementation of Childrens Rights and Child Soldiering in Hawl-Wadag District, Mogadishu Somalia

ABSTRACT 

The study sought to establish the relationship between implementation of children rights and child soldiering in Hawl-wadag, Mogadishu Somalia. This study was guided by three specific objectives, that included determining the i) implementation of children rights; ii) the level of child soldiering; iii) the relationship between the extent of implementation of children rights and child soldiering in Hawl-wadag, Mogadishu Somalia. This research employed descriptive correlational design to describe the relationship between the variables. Data analysis using means showed that extent of implementation of Children’s rights was found to be high (over all mean=2.99), and the level of level of child soldiering in Hawl-wadag, Mogadishu Somalia was found to be high and this was indicated by the overall mean (mean=3.11). The extent of implementation of children rights and child soldiering are positi~ie and significantly correlated The findings revealed the following: majority of respondents were between 41-50 years of age (38.S%) and these were male (over 64.1%) and these were diploma holders (over 38.5%).. The researcher recommended that; The Government of Somalia should set up specified Health centers purposely for children; this will help in the provision of rights to adequate health services among children, should sponsor different children sports activities; this will help in the developing of talents among children, the Government and Human rights NGOs should fight against the practice of discrimination among tribes; this will also help in protection of Children from discrimination according to their tribes and religion and should give financial support to different Non-Government Organizations (NGO5) fighting for children rights and this will reduce on the number of child soldiers recruited in different army groups. And lastly the researcher encouraged prospective researchers and even students to research on the following areas; Children protection rights and child soldiering in Hawl-wadag, Mogadishu Somalia, Children participation rights and child soldiering in Hawl-wadag, Mogadishu Somalia, Provision of educational services and child soldiering in Hawl wadag, Mogadishu Somalia, and lastly Human rights NGOs and participation of children in different activities in Hawl-wadag, Mogadishu Somalia.
