Internal Factors Influencing Service Delivery Within The Kenya Police Service In Kitui County

ABSTRACT

Service delivery process has not been an easy undertaking since it has been faced by

numerous factors some emanating from outside the external environment others from

within the organization. This research project was therefore an attempt to discuss the

internal organizational factors on the service delivery in Kenya police service as an

organization with police commands within Kitui County being the area of survey. This

project assessed organizational culture, leadership, resources and organizational structure

as the main internal factors that affect service delivery in the Kenya police service in

Kitui County. It also presented descriptive research design, how to generate

questionnaires and data analysis. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design

that aimed at analyzing the service delivery in the Kenya police service Kitui County.

The target population was police officers working in police commands within Kitui

County who are about 460 from which a sample of 138 officers was used to obtain

information. The researcher adopted stratified random sampling technique which enabled

sufficient representation of officers across all ranks in the service. The main method of

data collection was through the use of questionnaires both structured and unstructured

and interview guide which are appropriate and effective to use by the researcher. Data

analysis was done through the use of SPSS version 22. Presentation was done through the

use of tables, pie charts, and bar graphs. Descriptive statistics enabled the researcher

present the data in a meaningful manner while inferential statistic used a random sample

data taken from a population. The results of this study was important to policy makers,

supervisors, team leaders and managers of the police service, fellow researchers among

other beneficiaries especially in the field of reforms in the National police service and

management in general to enhance and better the employees' performance in the future
