ABSTRACT
Background: IPV is among of the most widespread forms of violence now days, about one third of women murdered worldwide are murdered by their intimate partners. Africa, Eastern Mediterranean and Southern Asia are leading region on IPV worldwide with the prevalence of 37%. About 20% of pregnant women in Dodoma region, Tanzania experienced IPV during pregnancy. This study aims to determine the association between intimate partner violence and their associated among pregnant women at Makole Health Centre.
Methodology: From March to April 2016 a quantitative approach cross sectional study design was conducted to the 378 pregnant women attending ANC at Makole Health Centre, face to face interview was used for the data collection. A structured questionnaire used for the assessment of socio-demographic details; intimate partner violence was assessed by using revised conflict tactic scale version 2 (CTS – 2), Anxiety and depression were assessed by using Hopkins symptom checklist 25 (HSCL-25) and post-traumatic stress disorder was assessed by using Post traumatic stress disorder checklist (PCL).
