This study examines the impact of local government account auditing on the financial management and accountability of councils, with a focus on Egbedore Local Government, Osun State. Auditing serves as a critical tool for promoting transparency, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and curbing resource mismanagement. However, local governments often face challenges such as inadequate audit funding, lack of skilled personnel, and political interference, which hinder effective financial oversight. This research explores how auditing practices influence financial accountability, revenue tracking, and project implementation in Egbedore Local Government. The findings aim to provide actionable recommendations for improving audit systems to enhance governance and efficient resource utilization in local councils.
