ABSTRACT Ihe topic of this study was “Nature of Disability and Access to Employment among Youth in Vihiga County. Kenya”. The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between the nature of disability and access to employment among the youth in Vihiga County, Kenya. It was guided by six objectives. These are: to establish the nature of disabilities among the youth in Vihiga County. Kenya. to assess the lev& of disabilities among the youth. to determine the level olaccess to employment among the youth with disabilities, to investigate whether the type of the job is independent ol the nature of disability among the youth, to investigate whether there is a clilTerence between the nature of disability and access to employment among the youth and to investigate whether there is a relationship between the nature of disability and access to employment among the youth. The methodology of the study was descriptive correlational survey design. A sample of 63 youth with disabilities was selected using simple random sampling. Ihe researcher found out that the level and access to employment among the youth was low~. The researcher also found out that the type of the job done by these youth with disabilities is independent of the nature of disability and that there is a positive relationship between nature of disability and access to employment among the youth with disabilities. The researcher recommended that stakeholders should ensure equal opportunities for both youth with ci isabi I ities and those Vithout in accessing employment.
