Introduction.

1.What are the objectives and principles of Nigerian foreign trade policies?

Nigeria, being a developing country and an emerging market, has her foreign trade policies predicated on industrialization and proliferation of Nigerian –owned businesses rather than open policies aimed at saturation of its market.

This is a corollary to the “Buy Nigeria” campaign by the government.

It is common knowledge and practice that developing nations don’t stand a chance of competing against their foreign counterparts in the global market, how much more if those Multi-national companies (MNCs) are domesticated?

It is for the fear of the saturation of domestic markets that developing countries are “Protectionist” in their foreign trade policies.
