Performance Analysis of High-Efficiency Motor and Variable Speed Drive in Black Tea Processing Machinery

Abstract


Purpose: Thepresentoldstandardefficiencymotors(SEM)inblackteaprocessingmachineryconsumelargeamountofelectricity,thusincreasesthecostofproduction.Technologicallyimprovedhigh-efficiencymotors(HEM)orHEMcoupledwith variablespeeddrive(VSD)couldbeusefultoachievehigh-energyefficiency.Therefore,astudywasconductedwiththefocusto determinethefeasibilityofintroducingHEMandVSDinwitheringandrollingmachineryofblackteamanufacturing.

Methods: Awitheringtroughandtwodifferentcapacityrotorvanerollerswereselectedforthestudy,andtheenergyconsumption ofdifferenttreatmentswasmeasured,andspecificenergyconsumption,annualbillsavings,simplepaybackperiod,andpotential carbondioxideemissionreductionwerecalculated.
