This work centres in creating a conceptual framework upon which education in Nigeria can anchor to meet up with the global educational challenge. It advocates for a paradigm shift from the colonial educational background that influenced the current educational approach in Nigeria to a more standard system of education with innovative value capable of situating us in the highly competitive global market. Globalization creates new values and thus demands new orientations, bringing about changes in circumstances with their corresponding complexity. This calls for serious reflection especially in the area of educational approach. Thus, the thrust of this work lies in the expansion of the scope of education in Nigeria as being vital for global participation especially as the drive for competition and marketization cut across borders, thanks to improved communication and transportation. Thus to achieve our purpose we shall use the empirical method of analysis where we discuss the relevance of education generally in the emerging global industry, then have an analysis of the present state of education in Nigeria that led to this clarion call for change. This will be followed with suggestions on
how to uplift education in Nigeria to global standard in other to produce people of competence in the global market.
