ABSTRACT In an attempt to investigate on the problem, the researcher identified Abogeta Division, Imenti South Eastern province form which special schools were selected as the research environment. The study was guided by research objectives which included establishing the effects of cerebral palsy in academic performance; to find out factors interfering with the teaching and learning of learners with cerebral palsy, assess the causes of cerebral palsy, establish the categories of cerebral palsy, establish the categories of cerebral palsy and management of learners with cerebral palsy in special schools. To gather more information on the issue, related literature was reviewed on areas such as effects of cerebral palsy on academic performance, factors interfering with the teaching and learning of learners with cerebral palsy and management procedures. Primary and secondary literature sources were used. In data collection, survey was adopted as the research design. This was used because a large group of despondence was targeted. Questionnaires were then developed, tested for validity, reliability. They were dispatched to the respondents who gave their views by answering the question items. The data collected were analysed and presented quantitatively in form of tables, figures and graphs. Other data were presented qualitatively in descriptive form. The main findings included inadequate teaching and learning materials, inappropriate curriculum, insufficient human resource among many others. It was established that inadequate provision of services provided by service providers impact greatly in the education of learners with cerebral palsy. In order to intervene for the above issues the researcher made more recommendation valuable to service providers and relevant stake holders involved with the cerebral palsy. The recommendations were also made.
