ABSTRACT
The study sought to investigate staff management and teachers’ commitment to job in secondary schools in Yala Local Government Area. Three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Literatures related to the variables under the study were reviewed. Survey research design was adopted for the study. A sample of 100 subjects were randomly selected and used for the study. Primary and secondary data were collected through questionnaire and review of relevant literature respectively. A total of 100 questionnaires were distributed out of which all were retrieved. A response rate of 100% was achieved. Information was analysed through the use of frequency table and percentage and the test of hypotheses was done using independent t-test and Pearson’s product moment correlation co-efficient. The findings of the study showed that, staff management motivation, and staff supervision showed a significant influence on teachers’ commitment to job in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State. While staff discipline relate to teachers’ commitment to job. Based on these findings, it was recommended among others, that school Principals should make adequate provision for teachers’ motivation, professional growth and participation in extracurricular activities to enhance effective performance.
