Structural Creativity in Architectural Design and Its Impact on the Building Cover (An Analytical Study in the Light of Contemporary Cladding Materials)

Abstract

Recently, there have been some theoretical approaches to structural innovation in

architecture, while some architectural models have emerged which reflect many of the

innovations that indicate their content to challenge the human abilities inherent in the

creation of the treatment and installation of the architectural configuration and to

confront the external and environmental factors affecting the building. Part of this

challenge emerged in the nature of architectural buildings and structural structures

that reflected creativity, innovation, reinvent, renewal, and development. Which came

in general to refer to something dazzling and distinctive and new, but from the

scientific point of view and after its roots in the philosophy of the phenomenon and

psychological came out of what is possible and lack resulted in different patterns of the

embodiments of creativity in architecture. In general, this topic is one of the tributaries

of artistic creativity. When examining the nature of the effect of structural creativity in

the architectural form through the cover of the building and the materials of cladding,

the shortcomings of the previous proposals that dealt with this aspect have emerged.

The research problem was determined by the following: (There is no clear conception

of structural creativity achieved in the architectural building) The purpose of this

research is to define the vocabulary of structural creativity in the building's envelope

and to achieve it through the materials of contemporary cladding, and to achieve this

approach consisting of several stages; First, I started by constructing a theoretical

framework consisting of four parts. The first was the discussion of the views that

examined the concept of structural creativity in architecture through theses that

focused on this and the second was to extract the main and secondary vocabulary that

defines structural creativity in architecture in general and through the building's cover

in particular. The third is to examine the nature of the derived vocabulary in the

selected architectural models, where the dominance of the structural treatments on

the architectural formation emerged. Later, the nature of the creative influences was

determined by the structural treatment and the cladding materials. Finally, And

cladding materials in the production of creative output in the process of architectural design at the level of the cover outside of the building.
