ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study is to determine Teaching Methods and
Academic Performance among Learners with Hearing Impairment in
Selected Schools in Magumoni zone, Magumoni Division,Meru-south
District Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to; Determine
Teaching Methods and Academic Performance among Learners with
Hearing Impairment in regards to: Classroom seating, Sign Interpreters
and Note takers, Non-Verbal Communication, Hearing Materials and
Sign Language. The methods of data collection were questionnaires and
interviews. The study revealed by 50% of the respondents that seating

More teachers should be trained to get competent teachers who can
effectively use teaching methods that can help children with hearing
impairments understand what they are taught.
The school environment should be made conducive
