ABSTRACT

The study focused on the impact of micro-finance institutions on the

performance of small and medium enterprises in the post conflict in the

democratic republic of Congo (DRC) Bunia Town

The findings shows that Poor people have little or no access to financial

services that most of us take for granted, Lack of access to affordable loans on

the consumer side is a major hurdle in providing loan services that benefits

the, Reliable and affordable loan. services are the underpinning of most

productive enterprises, but it is not accounted for in the loans. and there is a

knowledge gap between microfinance institutions and central Bank

The recommendations suggested included;

There should be enough training of the SME's about financial management and

income generating activities and give them skills needed to utilize their loans

effectively. Small and medium enterprises should be encouraged to form groups and get group loans and also to engage in activities like poultry and piggery raring which could generate income and improve on their nutrition.

Microfinance institutions should not be harsh while recovering loans as it could discourage SME's from getting loans.

Microfinance institutions should introduce agricultural loans as most people in rural areas depend on agriculture. Then conclusions were made according to the research findings of the study.
