The Impact Of Teachers’ Motivation On Students’ Academic Performance In Kenya Certificate Of Seconi)Ary Examination (Kcse) In Habaswein Division In Northeastern Province

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to find out the impact of motivation of teachers on students’

performance in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in Habaswein Division, Wajir

South District of North Eastern Province of Kenya. Data was collected through the use of

interviews, observation and questionnaires.

This research adopted descriptive and analytical research design. Both qualitative and

quantitative research methods were used to analyze dataun the topic of the study. The study

involved a sample of 80 respondents that is 20 teachers and 60 students. These were all involved

in the school curriculum at different levels.

The study tound that most of the teachers appreciated the value of motivation for teachers at all

level and had relations to students’ performance. However accessibility to these motivation

factors has always been hindered by several factors ranging from administrative point of view

and also teachers point of view. In conclusion, the study found that motivation was a key factor

to students’ success and therefbre a number of recommendations were made as presented in chapter five.
