A REVIEW ON BLENDED LEARNING METHOD FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS IN COVID-19 SITUATION

Abstract

The present study in chapter 1 has sheds light on the discussion that effect blended learning on secondary student in the present scenario of COVID-19. In the COVID-19 situation, the government has enforced a Movement Control Order which forces schools to shut down. The study has analysed that blended learning is one of the effective methods for the continuation of study from the home environment without any health concerns. In chapter 2, The literature review of the study has identified COVID-19 and blended learning as the independent variable and secondary students as the dependent variable. The study has described variables to analyse the relationship between them. The study has evaluated that there are both positive and negative impacts of blended learning on secondary students. However, it has been selected as the most significant method by analysing the cognitive theory, the theory of behaviourism and the experiential learning process.   Third chapter focuses on research methodology and tools which help the researchers to gain accurate knowledge about the impact of blended learning methods for secondary students in COVID -19 situations. The chapter has focused on positivism research philosophy which helps to analyse different concepts and variables of the research and the use of descriptive research design encourages researchers to understand the impact of blended learning on secondary students. The study has focused on primary data collection methods which help to gather information about the issues and strategies to overcome the issues of blended learning. The aim of conducting data analysis in the fourth chapter of the report is to analyse the data collected from online surveys. The survey was conducted with 101 students who are pursuing secondary education in Malaysia. The research question includes three

3 IMPACT OF BLENDED LEARNING METHOD FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS IN COVID-19 SITUATION demographical questions and seven “objective-oriented” questions. Results conducted from the survey were represented in tabular and graphical format. Based on the result, it has been found, blending learning in secondary education has high significance. Moreover, it has been evaluated from the research that there were several factors that could have improved during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Those factors have been enlightened from the collected survey result. Chapter 5 has focused on outlining the conclusion of research findings by highlighting the key areas for understanding the potential significance of the study. The specific areas that have been covered in this process are link objective limitations of the study and future scopes. Linking with objective has provided justification of research objective and question understanding of the variability and standard of the key findings. Areas that have not been addressed in the study are due to various limitations. However, future scope indicate potential areas to be considered for further investigation and research there by gaining more knowledge.
