Anticaries effect of CPP-ACP [October 20, 2016]

Search result: As the topic of CPP-ACP is of high-priority a more intensive systematic literature search was conducted in order to produce this evidence sheet. 22 clinical studies were found. In-situ studies, as well as studies including ACP/casein materials not covered by the Recaldent technology, as included in the original systematic review, were not included.

Clinical outcomes: Preventive effect: The results regarding the clinical efficacy of CPP-ACP in the prevention and treatment of dental caries, i.e. slowing the progress of early caries lesions/white spot lesions appears to be contradictory and no conclusive statement can yet be made based on the available evidence. The quality of the existing evidence requires further assessment. PLEASE NOTE: The outcome of the methodological quality assessment of trials may change the evidence-weight of the study conclusions.

[‘Preliminary Systematic Literature Searches’ are based on SYSTEM’s periodic systematic searches of the dental literature and provide first overviews over existing clinical evidence but are limited in the number of databases searched, as well as the assessment of precision and internal validity of results and thus do not replace the need for a full systematic review report to the topic]
