ABSTRACT
The study aimed at examining the relationship between internal displacement and social reintegration in Host communities in Agago district, three specific objectives guided this study and these were; (i) To examine the consequences of internal displacement on Social Reintegration in the Host communities in Agago district, (H) To assess the process of Social Reintegration in Host communities in Agago district(iii) To assess the challenges of Social Reintegration in Host communities in Agago district. The research employed a survey research design to describe the variables, the research population was 670 and the sample size was 250. The findings revealed that internal displacement in Host communities in Agago district were rated high, social reintegration was rated unsatisfactory, implying that sustainable reintegration is not effectively achieved since the political, legal, economic and social conditions needed for citizens to maintain life, livelihood and dignity have been not been secured. Enemies of peace and social reintegration take advantage of that to use places where FARDC elements are absent to restore troubles and hatred among people and reestablish armed groups for their selfish and political reasons. The researcher concluded that internal displacement have negative consequences to the host communities of Agago such as high abduction levels, destructions, sexual violence and killings in Host communities in Agago district, effective and sustainable social reintegration has not been achieved since the political, legal, economic and social conditions needed for citizens to maintain life, livelihood and dignity have been not secured Host communities in Agago district. The researcher recommended that the government of Uganda to always protect the citizens in case of any conflict, this will stop the citizens from joining armed groups with the aim of considering it as part of survival strategy in situations of conflict, the government of Uganda to put in place more job opportunities, this will stop citizens from being promised to be paid a lot of money in case they are recruited in army forces, and the government of Uganda should make sure that the interests and rights of citizens from host communities are always regarded paramount.
