Abstract
This Research Work Was Primarily Designed To Finds Out The
Implication In Nigeria On The Attainment Of The Millennium
Development Goals By 2015 As Was The Target Set By The United
Nation General Assembly In September, 2000. The Study Adopted
Analytical Research Design In Assessing The Performance Of
Nigeria In The Attainment Of The Eight Goals Set Globally By The
United Nations Starting From The Year 2000 To 2009. It Was Based
On Data Collected On The Recorded Performance Or Achievements
Or Failures In The Eight Goals Set That Formed The Basis For Airing
At Decisions And Conclusions Of The Research. Based On This
Approach, Therefore, It Was Discovered That (I) Progress Towards
Achieving Goal He Is Currently Slow (Ii) Progress Towards Achieving
Goal Two Is Varied; While Some Indicators Are Improving Rapidly,
Others Walk Slowly; For Goal Three, The Progress Is Improving
Moderately While It Is Unlikely That Nigeria Will Achieve Goals Four
And Five By 2015. The Supportive Environment Is Fair In
Comparing The Spread Of Hiv, Malaria And Other Diseases In Goal
Six Which There Is Insufficient Data To Determine Whether Nigeria
Will Achieve The Seventh Goal By 2015. For Goal Eight, It Was
Observed That The Current Level Of Partnership Between The Federal
Government And International Agencies Is Minimal While Private
Sector Investment And Other Activities Are Almost Non-Existent.
Based On The Foregoing, It Was Then Recommended That Among
Others That There Is The Need For Improved Market Access And
Promotion Of Trade To Book National Production And Experts,
Provisions Of Infrastructural Facilities, Provision Of Skill
Acquisition Centers, Portable Water To Prevents Water Borne
Diseases, Scaling Up Of The Unicef Training Activities To All The
Lgas Among Others Conclusively, There Exist Great Potentials In
Nigeria To Achieve Some Of The Development Goals With A Proviso
That The Spate Of Activities In The Respective Pectors Or Areas Are
Not Relaxed And Genuine Efforts Made To Tackle Some Existing Inadequacies Pointed Out In The Body Of The Research.
