A Study on Application of Acceptance Sampling Plan in Processing Control and Monitoring

Abstract This study examined the use of acceptance sampling technique as an efficient tool for quality assurance in deciding whether a given lot of product is to be accepted or rejected in the market. This study designed two single sampling plans with a sample size of 125 from a lot of size 1350 bread loaves and an allowable number of defectives as 4 and 6 (i.e. c=4 and 6). The result indicated that the probability of rejecting the manufacturers’ product of good quality by the consumers is...

Trend of Neonatal Mortality in Nigeria from 1990 to 2017 using Time Series Analysis

The study examined the incidence of the rate of Neonatal Mortality in Nigeria. The incidence tested with use of Time Series Analysis (ARIMA). The trend plot of the incidence shows that there has been steady decrease in the incidence rate over the years. The series was stationarity using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) Test, the result found to be stationary. The Correlogram of the incidence also supports the stationarity of the series at 1% level of significance. The model that best describ...

ALFRED NON-OIL EXPORTS ON ECONOMIC GROWTH

ABSTRACT The research focuses on the impact of non-oil exports on Nigerian economy. It employs the documentary method in retrieving secondary data for the study. The data is retrieved from the CBN statistical bulletin for the year 2016. The method of data analysis is the ordinary least square (OLS) method of multiple regressions using the Microfit software. At the end of the analysis, it is discovered that non-oil exports has a significant impact on the economic growth of Nigeria. I recommen...

LOGISTIC REGRESSION ON EFFECT OF TUBERCULOSIS AND MALARIA ON HIV

Logistic regression model deals with the relationship that exists between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. It provides a method for modeling a binary response variable, which takes values 1 and 0. Further, Logistic regression is useful for situations in which you want to be able to predict the presence or absence of a characteristic or outcome based on values of a set of predictor variables. It is similar to a linear regression model but is suited to models where th...

Modeling the Supply of Pipe Borne Water in Ilorin

ABSTRACT Water as an essential commodity plays a major role in national development, the availability of water through pipe borne to individual, communities, and the country at large will help in achieving the New Millennium Development Goal (MDG7), hence the constant study, analysis and forecast for  supply of water using past water supplied. The supply of pipe borne water from 2009 to 2015 was examined with the aim of developing a working model to forecast future supply of pipe borne water...

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS ON STILL-BIRTH AND LIVE BIRTH-RATE

ABSTRACT Stillbirth remains a public health problem with an estimate of 2.6 million stillbirths in 2015 of which 98% occurred in low- and middle-income countries and over three-quarters of these occurring in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and south Asia. Further, only ten countries carry the burden of over 65% of total stillbirths in the world including Nigeria in the second position. The objective of this analysis is to estimate stillbirth rates and identify the determinants of stillbirth in Haji...

Determinants of Child Mortality in Kenya: Stratified Cox Proportion Hazard Model

This study explores determinants of child mortality in Kenya using the 2008/09 Kenya demographic and health survey (2008/09 KDHS) data. Cox proportional hazard model is used and stratification method was used to handle the non-proportionality of the hazards. Kaplan Meir log rank test is used to explore the data and determine the significant variables that have association with child mortality to be used in the model. The study establishes that there is improvements in child survival over the...

Modelling Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Kenya for the Period 2000 to 2017 Using Autoregressive Integrated Moving Averages--ARIMA(p, d, q)

ABSRACT The Kenyan CPI data for the period January 2000 to December 2017, obtained from the KNBS website, was the variable of interest, modelled as a time series variable. R was the package used for analysis. Descriptive statistics such as the mean, median, ACF, PACF, time series plots, histograms, lagged scatter plots and qqplots were employed to assess the non-stationarity of CPI after which appropriate smoothing techniques such as differencing were made use of to detrend the data. Formally...
