Preparation of Activated Carbon from the Shell’s Seeds of Ziziphus Spina Christi and its Application in Removal of Cd2+ from Water

Abstract In this research two types of activated carbon (AC) were prepared from Sudanese Nabag shells. The first one of AC was prepared by pregnating the shells with sulphuric acid before carbonization. The second type of AC was prepared without chemical treatment. The percentage yield of the products were calculated and found to be 32.31% for the AC treated with acid and 24.88 % for AC prepared without chemical treatment. The functional groups for the two carbons were determined by FT-IR te...

A Study on Hydropower Plants Dams

Abstract In this thesis hydropower plants as clean and perfect source of energy has been studied. Instead of producing energy from fossil fuel and nuclear energy and other sources which affect negatively on environment of humans and animals. Where some emit harmful Co2 gas that causes global warming. And other emits harmful radiations, in addition to expensive of construction, operation and maintenance. Where hydropower is renewable, clean and inexpensive source when compared to other ways. ...

A Review Of Simple Model Problems In Continuum Mechanics With Internal Body Forces

ABSTRACT This study was put in place in order to review simple model problems in continuum mechanics with internal body forces. The main objective of this study is to analyze simple model problems in continuum mechanics with internal body forces, which include the steady flow between parallel plates with internal body forces, which include review of internal body forces with its applications, internal body forces and moments, string with internal body forces, membrane with internal body forc...

Models Of Tensile Behaviour Of Meta-Stable Fe-Mn-Mo Alloys

ABSTRACT  A semi-mechanistic model for predicting the flow behaviour of Fe-Mn-Mo steels displaying transformation-induced plasticity is developed in this paper. The model, based on the law of mixtures, takes into account the work-hardening of the individual principal phases (namely, lath-martensite and austenite/epsilon martensite). The composite strength of such a steel may be given by a modified law of mixtures which incorporates a dislocation density effect. To test the validity of the m...

Evaluation of Image Quality in Fluoroscopy Machines in Khartoum State

Fluoroscopy refers to the use of an X ray beam and a suitable image receptor for viewing images of processes or instruments in the body in real time. Fluoroscopic imaging trades the high signal to noise ratio (snR) of radiography for high temporal resolution, as factors that maintain patient dose at an acceptable level must be used. The aim of this study was to perform quality control (QC) of image quality for three digital fluoroscopy units used c a r d io va s c ula r a n d interventi...

ICT Integration in Teaching and Learning in Secondary Schools in Tanzania: Readiness and Way Forward

Abstract —The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in teaching and learning has brought new teaching and learning experience to both teachers and students in many countries. Tanzania has made several efforts to achieve this but little has been done to determine the readiness of our schools and teachers in terms of ICT infrastructure and possession of other gadgets to help in the integration of ICT in education. This study aimed at looking into the readiness of Secondary ...

Development Of Student Information Management System (A Case Study Of Computer Science Department, Fuoye)

ABSTRACT Student Information Management System (SIMS) provides a simple interface for maintenance of student information. It can be used by educational institutes or colleges to maintain the records of students easily. A number of problems associated with student academic record management include improper course registration, late release of students' results, inaccuracy due to manual and tedious calculation and retrieval difficulties/inefficiency. In most cases the data generated by ac...

E-Government Adoption And Framework For Big Data Analytics In Nigeria

ABSTRACT The continuous advances in today’s digital universe and integration of computing into virtually every facet of human life are no doubt making the concept of Big Data a ubiquitous paradigm for deploying novel technologies/applications hitherto not practicable by conventional methods. Big Data, a general term for the massive amount of digital data being generated from different sources, extremely large, structured/unstructured too complex for analysis through conventional relational...

Extraction of Natural Flavours from Mint and Orange Peel and Their Use as Flavouring Agents for Biscuit.

The main goal of this study is to extract natural flavour from mint and orange peels by distillation production in sudan and its utilization in improving the biscuit product flavour. The flavours were extracted by steam and water distillation. It was conducted to determine the physico chemical propereties of flavour and it’ s effect on different added levels (1,2,and 3 ml) on the sensory evaluation of the final product. The proximate analysis for both flavoured biscuits ,with orange ...

A Flipped Classroom Model For Adaptive Systems In E-Learning

ABSTRACT Student and computer interaction becomes more salient where visual-auditory hardware and materials are required in classroom environment which are used for formal education. For instance, as a substitute of having classes during sessions, students learn mostly outside the class, by reading, watching videos and listening to podcasts or other audio format. Adaptive flipped classroom model is a learning and teaching approach that inverts the traditional classroom, in other words activi...

Computational Identification Of Signalling And Metabolic Pathways Of Plasmodium Falciparum

ABSTRACT Malaria is one of the world’s most common and serious diseases causing death up to about three million people each year. Its most severe occurrence is caused by the protozoan Plasmodium falciparum. Reports have shown that the resistance of the parasite to existing drugs is increasing. Therefore, there is a huge and urgent need to discover and validate new drug or vaccine targets to enable the development of new treatments for malaria. The ability to discover these drug or vaccine ...

Isolation and Structure Elucidation of Four Antioxidant Compounds from Sudanese Sonchus oleraceus Plant

Sonchus oleraceus (moleita) from the family Asteracae was investigated for its radical scavenging activity. The whole herb was firstly extracted with dicloromethane to remove as much of chlorophyll and other colouring pigments. The plant residue was extracted with methanol. The methanol extract was tested for its antioxidative contents. The methanolic extract showed 88% radical scavenging activity against DPPH(1,1-Diphenyl-2-picyl hydrazyl) a reagent used to test compound for their abil...

Assessment of Natural Radioactivity Levels and Associated Dose Rates in Soil Samples from Al South Kordofan StateـــDallanj Area

In this study 15 soil samples were collected from Dallanj town where dividing the town into five parts (E, C, S, N and W) using GPS .Three samples were taken from each part. 500 grams of soil sample was weighed and closed in plastic containers for four weeks so as to have secular equilibrium for uranium. Our goal of this study was estimate Investigation of Radionuclides Soil Samples from South of Kordufan state (Western Sudan). Natural radioactivity concentrations in soil samples were m...

Effect of Handling of Laboratory Wastes on Liver Function Tests among Handlers in National Laboratory for Public Health in Khartoum State

Viral hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver due to viral infections and there are groups of viruses that affect the liver of which hepatitis B and C viruses are the causative agents of sever form of liver disease with high rate of mortality. Laboratory waste handlers who undergo collection, transportation, and disposal of laboratory wastes in the National laboratory for public health are at risk of exposure to acquire those infections which transmit mainly as a result of contaminate...
