Microbiological load of land snail sold in Ekpoma market

ABSTRACT The results obtained from this research work shows that land snails sold in Ekpoma market contains some pathogenic microorganisms. A total of fifty samples were bought from 10 different local sellers (five snail samples each) in Ekpoma old market and the new market. The total viable count of bacteria ranged from 2.2 x 108 cfu/g - 8.2 x 108 cfu/g. The lowest was recorded in sample I  having a total bacteria count of 2.2 x 108 cfu/g and the highest count was observed in sample D obtai...

THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION SYSTEM ON ORGANIZATION AND THIER EMPLOYEES

ABSTRACT Information technology has been a buzz world in the modern world. The current trends in the modern world are dominated by information technology. The status of the use of technology was gradually improved during few decades. The world is in the mist of the most radical and rapid transformation of commerce and society since the invention of the automobile. This research work highlights the impact of information technology on organization and its employees. It therefore outline the v...

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ANDROID-BASED GYNAECOLOGICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM

ABSTRACT This project” Design and Implementation of an Android based Gynaecological   Information System”   created  a system that will provide first-hand information on gynaecology in the absence of a gynaecologist. This project was also implemented to bring information women need to their door steps; because most women find it very difficult to visit their gynaecologist except in extreme cases and this should be done regularly starting from puberty through adolelesence and menopause....

DEVELOPMENT OF A MOBILE HANDBOOK

ABSTRACT The ability to send and receive information is a powerful tool, which can mar or make a situation. Its striking feature is timeliness, failure to send or retrieve information at a particular time, could render such information useless.  In a university community the use of mobile phones is common, this therefore forms the bases of the project which is aimed at developing a mobile application which helps students of the college to quickly access, process and send information. An enh...

THE EFFECTS OF HEAT TREATMENT ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF A WELDED JOINT OF MEDIUM CARBON STEEL

ABSTRACTThe effect  of Heat treatment on the Mechanical Properties of a welded joint of medium carbon steel has been carried out.  The materials were cut, welded, to get 27 samples needed. Thereafter, Heat Treatment was carried out on the samples. Then the specimens were grouped into two groups, group A and group B. In group  A, after the heat treatment on the welded specimens, one sample was quenched in water immediately, another was oil-quenched and the third one was allowed to cool unde...

COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE PRODUCTION OF WOOD PELLETS FROM SAWDUST USING LOCALLY SOURCED BINDERS.

ABSTRACT   Attempt was made to produce wood pellets from sawdust using locally sourced binders as an alternative binder, to wood lignin which is a natural binding agent. Wood pellets were produced by manual moulding with starch concentration of cassava and potato starch as the process variable. Results show similar behavior between pellets bonded by cassava, and potato starch, But differs slightly in the case of calorific value and smoke analysis, it shows that smouldering produce the highes...

PRINCIPLES OF CARBON-U (C-11) RADIO-CHEMISTRY

ABSTRACTCarbon –U (C-11) radiotracers are widely used for the early diagnosis of cancer, monitoring therapeutic response to cancer treatment and pharmacokinetic investigations of anticancer drugs. PET imagining permits non-invasive monitoring of metabolic processes and molecular targets, while carbon-II radiotracers allow a “hot-for cold” substitution of biological active molecules. Advance in organic synthetic chemistry and radiochemistry as well as improved automated techniques for ra...

College Management System

ABSTRACTThis project “COLLEGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” deals with the maintenance of all college information starting from the principal to the students.CMS is an automation system, which is used to store the departments, student, courses and other information of a college. Starting from registration of a new student in the department, it maintains all the details regarding the courses offered, staff members, bursary etc. The project deals with retrieval of information through an INTRANET base...

Mathematical Modelling Of Hiv/Aids Dynamics With Treatment And Vertical Transmission

ABSTRACT This study proposes and analyzes a non-linear mathematical model for the dynamics of HIV/AIDS with treatment and vertical transmission. The equilibrium points of the model system are found and their stability is investigated. The model exhibits two equilibria namely, the disease-free and the endemic equilibrium. It is found that if the basic reproduction number R0 1, the disease-free equilibrium is always locally asymptotically stable and in such a case the endemic equilibrium doe...

MODELING CHOLERA DYNAMICS WITH CONTROLS

ABSTRACT.  In this paper, we present and analyze a cholera epidemiological model with control measures incorporated. This model is extended from the one proposed in [16] by including the effects of vaccination, therapeutic treatment, and water san- itation. Equilibrium analysis is conducted in the case with con- stant controls for both epidemic and endemic dynamics. Opti- mal control theory is applied to seek cost-effective solution of multiple time-dependent intervention strategies against ...

MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF THE EFFECT OF IRRESPONSIBLE IMMIGRANT ON THE TRANSMISSION DYNAMICS OF HIV

ABSTRACT This project proposes a non – linear mathematical model to study the effect of irresponsible infected immigrants on the spread of HIV/AIDS in a heterogeneous population with a constant recruitment of susceptible. The equilibrium points, stability analysis and numerical simulation on the model are presented. It is realised that at the disease – free equilibrium, the model is stable when the basic reproduction number R0

On the Stability of Endemic Equilibrium State of HIV/AIDS Model with Irresponsible Infective Immigrants

ABSTRACT In this paper, a non–linear mathematical model is proposed to study the effects of irresponsible infected immigrants on the spread of HIV/AIDS in a heterogeneous population with a constant recruitment of susceptible receptors. Theequilibrium points, stability analysis, and numerical solution on the model are presented. The Routh–Hurwitz stability condition was employed to examine the stability of the disease– free equilibrium and Next Generation matrix was adopted to g...

Real Time Application

Abstract This research report mainly focus on real time application in real analogy, its classification, difference application areas of real time application and functionality. Special emphasis is placed on hard and soft real time application. Typical examples of real time applications include Air Traffic Control System, Air Bag System, Anti-Lock Brakes, Network Multimedia System and Mobile Phone Embedded System.  Real time application is becoming pervasive. In real time application...

Data mining – past, present and future – a typical survey on data streams

Abstract Data Stream Mining is one of the area gaining lot of practical significance and is progressing at a brisk pace with new methods, methodologies and findings in various applications related to medicine, computer science, bioinformatics and stock market prediction, weather forecast, text, audio and video processing to name a few. Data happens to be the key concern in data mining. With the huge online data generated from several sensors, Internet Relay Chats, Twitter, Face book, Online B...

Frequent Pattern Mining Algorithms for Finding Associated Frequent Patterns for Data Streams: A Survey

Abstract Pattern recognition is seen as a major challenge within the field of data mining and knowledge discovery. For the work in this paper, we have analyzed a range of widely used algorithms for finding frequent patterns with the purpose of discovering how these algorithms can be used to obtain frequent patterns over large transactional databases. This has been presented in the form of a comparative study of the following algorithms: Apriori algorithm, Frequent Pattern (FP) Growth algorith...
